Travel Tip: Now You Can Stream Movies in Your Hotel Room

netflix logoWatching movies in a hotel room used to involve overpriced pay-per-view that was charged to your room. But hotel chains are making some changes, and now you can stream movies in your room.

Marriott has signed a deal with Netflix, which is an industry first. You just log into your account to watch Netflix shows and movies right on your hotel television.

The Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, which are streaming media players, have been updated so they can now stream content over public Wi-Fi.

Before, that functionality was blocked by the hotel’s login page. With this new update, you can watch directly from Amazon, Netflix, and HBO GO in your hotel room.

Other streaming sticks, such as Roku Stream and Google Chromecast, can’t bypass that login page, but they may follow suit soon.

If your laptop already has videos on it, bring along a basic HDMI cable that allows you to hook up your computer directly to the hotel room TV.
