Travel Tip: TSA PreCheck & Global Entry Might Merge in the Future
The TSA is now considering merging PreCheck with the Global Entry program.
It sounds like a good idea, since merging the two programs would allow better management of the two operations.
PreCheck streamlines screening of vetted, trusted travelers at U.S. checkpoints, and a five year membership fee costs $85.
Global Entry, a program that really works, and costs $100, offers expedited customs clearance for passengers agreeing to background checks.
Ideally, the merging of the two programs will mean that holders of Global Entry cards will automatically qualify for TSA PreCheck.
It eliminates a lot of duplicate efforts, it doesn’t compromise security and it makes it easier for travelers, and that’s a very good thing.
