Travel Tip: One Reason Why Airline Food Tastes Bland

When it comes to airline food, some say the two words are an oxymoron.

That may be unfair, but consider that by the time the food is served to you, assuming there’s even any food on your flight, it has been re-cooked at least twice.

The airlines can’t maintain the moisture of the cuisine, which results in it tasting dry and bland.

Is there a solution?

Maybe—and it may all be in your head.

One professor of experimental psychology at Oxford University says the key to making airline food taste better is understanding that the sound of the planes engines might contribute to your inability to either smell or taste food.

His solution: wear noise cancelling headphones. It’s worth a try.

Bon appetit!
