Travel Tip: New Apps in Airports Help You Order Food

Locations in this article:  Baltimore, MD San Diego, CA

If you’re like me, you don’t go to an airport to shop, entertain friends, or read a good book.

In practical terms, you go to an airport so you can board your plane and leave.

But the reality is that we are spending more and more time in airports due to bad airline on-time performance, weather delays, or air traffic problems.

Fortunately, there are now a couple of apps to the rescue.

One was just introduced at the airport in Baltimore, and soon another app will launch in San Diego.

It allows you to order food, drinks, and other products for sale anywhere inside the airport and have them delivered directly to your boarding gate.

One app is appropriately titled Airport Sherpa. The other is called At Your Gate.

They promise order to delivery time in ten minutes—about the time it takes most airport departure boards to update and tell you that your flight is delayed.

You may be late, but at least you won’t be hungry.
