Travel Tip: Ways You Can Save on Multi-City Flights
For those who like to book a trip online: a word of warning.
This is especially true if you’re booking a multi-city trip, and not just flying a simple round-trip itinerary.
If you click the button on the airline’s website for multi-city flights, don’t count on the website quoting you the cheapest available fare for each leg.
The airlines have now programmed the reservation systems to give you a much higher fare for the whole itinerary.
So if you’re flying from City A to City B, then City C and back to City A, book these fares as individual, one-way fares.
You’ll discover a substantial difference in the total price you’ll pay—in some cases it’s about a third of the full multi-city itineraries.
