Travel Tip: What to Do If You Lose Your Phone
For many travelers, their smartphones have become digital wallets that contain everything from banking information to expense reports.
So if your phone is lost or stolen, your personal details are compromised. Here’s what you can do if you lose your phone.
Every financially-sensitive app on your phone should have a different, unique password.
Use a password manager like oneSafe or LastPass that lets you store passwords across multiple platforms.
If you’re in the market for a new phone, get one with a fingerprint scanner. It offers more security and privacy than a basic password-protected phone.
Download apps like Find My iPhone or Lookout on all the devices in your household. If one goes missing, you can use the cloud or another device to locate it.
You can also can send out an alert, which works even if the volume is turned off.
But if your phone is really missing, those apps can remotely lock or completely erase all the content.
