Travel Tip: Hidden Travel Perks in Your Credit Card

Locations in this article:  San Francisco, CA

credit cardYou probably have a credit card or two in your wallet, and you might be overlooking some perks when you’re on the road.

Did you know your credit card could get you free access to an airport lounge, even without a first or business class ticket?

The catch is that it usually has to be a higher-tier card that’s co-branded with an airline—like the Citi Executive card with American Airlines or the United MileagePlus Club Card.

The Amex Platinum charge card gets you into Delta Sky Clubs, as well as the Airspace Lounge and the Centurion Lounge, which are in cities like New York and San Francisco.

Your Amex Platinum also gets you up to $200 in credit to cover costs like checked bags, and they’ll even cover the fee for Global Entry or PreCheck.

Now, the drawback is that all these cards require an annual fee. So make sure the benefits outweigh the costs based on YOUR travel habits.

For a no-fee card with perks, look at the BankAmericard Travel Rewards card, which doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees and earns 1.5 points per dollar that you can redeem for travel.
