A Record-Breaking Memorial Day Weekend

You may have already heard the news but if you’re traveling over the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, it will be the busiest on record.

With gas prices not spiking, Americans are taking to their cars in record numbers. It’s the biggest number since 2005.

Consider this: 42 million Americans are forecast to leave home and more than 36 million of them will travel by car.

But if you don’t want to end up sitting in your car on the road along with everyone else, there’s a great plan B: fly–not within the U.S. but overseas, where there are lots of empty seats on overseas flights. There’s a 9% drop in foreign visitors–that’s a staggering number–which means the law of supply and demand is now working in your favor, even during the upcoming high season summer months.

It’s now cheaper to fly from many U.S. cities to Europe than it is to fly from New York to Boston. And you can expect those overseas airfares to not increase dramatically throughout the rest of the year.
