Travel Tip: Can’t-Miss Rest Stops For Your Next Road Trip
If you’ve done any long-distance driving, you understand the need for a rest stop.
In the recent past, that was just a place to pull over for a bathroom break or to simply rest.
But there’s been a small explosion in cutting-edge rest stops on America’s highways.
They offer everything from great food to museums.
They’re not just stops—they’ve become destinations.
The Iowa 80 Truckstop is billed as America’s largest.
It’s found on Interstate 80 in Walcott, Iowa.
You can watch a movie or visit a truck museum.
There’s Little America located on Interstate 40 in Flagstaff, Arizona.
It includes a 500-acre hotel, golf course, and pool.
If you’re hungry, and I mean really hungry, head to Morris, Illinois on Interstate 80.
That’s where you’ll find R-Place.
It’s a rest stop restaurant with a challenge.
It offers a two-pound hamburger that’s half meat, half cheese.
If you can eat all of it within an hour (without leaving your table), it’s free.
After that, you’ll probably need a rest stop.
