Travel Tip: How You Can Get Creative With Bundled Travel Deals

You see the travel deals offered all the time—bundled prices that include the airfare, hotel, and sometimes even the rental car.

Are these deals worth it?

My qualified answer: yes, if you can do some comparison shopping.

For example, take this package deal to Hawaii: $800, including airfare, four nights at a hotel and a rental car.

Is it worth it? Considering some airfares, it’s worth it even if you don’t need the hotel or the rental car.

Remember, on these package deals, there’s no requirement you have to stay at the hotel or use the rental car.

Conversely, when airfares are low but hotel room rates are high, use both and dump the rental car.

And when everything is high, use all three.

The key point here is that package deals don’t require you to use all the component parts of the package.

But in most cases, they do require you use the airfare.
