There’s a big battle going on between major hotel companies and the online travel agencies.
The hotel companies want you to book directly with them to avoid paying commissions, but the battle is no longer just about price alone.
To sweeten the deal, many hotels are now offering bundled travel packages.
For example, one hotel in the Caribbean not only offered the room, but also a $1000 dollar food credit and nonstop flights from New York.
A number of Marriott hotels are now offering to bundle airfare and hotel rates.
Other hotels are throwing in trip insurance, sailing trips, dive passes, and even a fruit basket.
It’s never been a better time to be a comparison shopper.
It’s okay to research online, but often it pays to call the hotel or resort directly and ask if it has these bundled packages.
Remember, if you don’t ask, you don’t get.
