Travel Tip: New Survey Finds the Best Rewards Programs for Hotel Chains

543376_264749066946956_405037427_nAre you a loyal member of a hotel frequent stay rewards program?

With more consolidation in the hotel industry, which rewards programs are the most generous—and the least?

Consider this: 18 percent of frequent travelers are loyal to a given hotel brand primarily because of its rewards program.

Hotels actually reap 50 percent more revenue from those loyalty customers.

What’s in it for you?

The latest study by financial website WalletHub compared the loyalty programs operated by the 12 largest hotel chains.

Who was in the lead? Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.

Its rewards program tested highest, followed by Marriott Rewards, Club Carlson, and La Quinta Inns & Suites.

The rankings vary depending on three different groups: Heavy, Moderate, or Light Travelers.

Best Western also scored high.

It’s the only major hotel chain with a rewards program that doesn’t expire due to account inactivity.

That can make a huge difference in the true value of the points you earn.
