Travel Tip: Most Affordable & Most Expensive Countries to Visit
If you want to budget your travel expenses, it’s always a smart idea to do your homework before you buy your airline ticket or book that hotel room.
The latest financial figures concerning the real cost of foreign travel might help you—if not surprise you.
Once you factor in the cost of the airline ticket, the value of the US dollar against foreign currencies, and the cost of local goods and services, the most expensive countries to visit are not Japan or Russia.
The most expensive country to visit? It’s Australia.
Because of the cost of the airline ticket, the average cost for a tourist is over $4,800.
Other expensive destinations include Norway, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland.
There are also some surprises.
Average spending for international tourists in Austria? $810. Italy? $920. France? Just $669.
Want a bargain? Argentina is still a good deal, and so is Thailand.
