Despite Rising Airfares, You Can Still Save on Thanksgiving Travel
Today, I went on CBS This Morning to talk about holiday travel—and what you need to do to get the best airfare rates. Let’s start with the bad news. Airfares for holiday trips are up 17 percent over last year, and this comes at a time when jet fuel prices have dropped 10 percent and the airlines are posting record profits.
Combined, airlines made $3.6 billion, which represents a 64 percent increase over the last year. But don’t get discouraged—there’s a way you can outsmart the process this year and get the best rates. It’s not just about what day you book—it’s also about which days you fly.
