Locations in this article:  London, England

Think Olympic tickets are too expensive to be within reach? Think again. There are actually a number of free and cheap ways to experience the Games in London…if you know where to go.

Believe it or not, there’s a number of Olympic events that don’t require any tickets at all. In late July, you can attend the Cycling Events for free.

However, there are certain areas that will cost up to about $20 apiece—namely at the start and finish area and at a prime viewing points for the timed trials.

Just outside of Hyde Park, spectators can watch the triathalon without purchasing tickets.

The Olympic Race Walk is also free to watch, but if you want a better view, you can apply for tickets.

Then look for something called Live Sites throughout London and other cities, which are big screens broadcasting the Games. You may have to reserve a spot, but the actual viewing is free, even in major spots like Hyde Park and Victoria Park.

And if you’re in London for the Games, don’t overlook all the other free activities out there. Many of the biggest museums and galleries don’t require an entrance fee, and remember, there are more than 3,000 parks and green spaces throughout the city.
