Before you check into a hotel, log onto the itunes or the android marketplace and download your own hotel’s app.

All the major hotel groups like Intercontinental, Mandarin Oriental and Four Seasons have apps for their properties that allows users to learn all about that individual hotelsand find things to do near the hotel.

Independently-owned hotels are also making their own apps with different amenities. SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills has a free App that lets you order room service, wake up calls, request luggage pick up, even make dinner reservations.

Landmark London hotel has an app that offers standard hotel information and amenities, but it also has a live London based news feed providing info about surrounding areas.

In Las Vegas, hotels are bringing the casino concierge to the phone. Caesar Palace, Mandalay Bay and Wynn all offer news, menus, directions, tickets, weather, special offers, advice and videos on their apps. But no online poker.
