Check Your Hotel Room for Air Quality Sensors
The next time you check into your hotel room, don’t just look for the thermostat or the coffee maker.
Look up, to the ceiling.
Make sure there’s a smoke detector, a heat sensor, and one more thing: an air quality sensor. It’s the latest addition to many hotel rooms, and it’s not about safety, but to detect cigarette and vape smoke. And that could result in a hefty fine if you’re caught violating the rules.
But if you check into a room and it has an overwhelming disinfectant odor, chances are the previous guest violated the rules. That air quality sensor might think you are now smoking.
Ask for another room.
