It is turning into a hot summer.
Temperatures across many U.S. states and European countries are now exceeding 90 degrees, and a number of countries don’t exactly feature air conditioning.
But you don’t have to sweat it. If you’re stuck in a hot hotel room and have fans, be counterintuitive. Instead of pointing fans inward and toward you, try facing them out of an open window. Physics suggests this helps push hot air out of the room while drawing in cooler air from elsewhere.
If you’re still struggling to stay cool, my favorite Plan B—head to a public library. Many offer air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, a safe place to escape the heat, and an opportunity to learn something while cooling down.
