The Essentials

Simple Airplane Comfort Tips

I remember my college days, when I traveled cramped in the back of the plane in a middle seat.

I found the biggest headphones I could find and used the tray table to rest my head.

Then I wore layers because the plane was always too cold. I could always strip them off if I got warm.

No pillow?

Roll up a sweater and wedge it behind your lower back. It takes the pressure off your spine and makes a real difference on a long flight.

Perhaps most important, elevate your feet by propping them up on your carry-on bag.

Given the current state of air travel, I’m still using these tactics today.
