The cost of airline tickets and hotel rooms is much higher this year, and the latest study has revealed the most expensive destinations for 2026.

Coming in at number one: Greenland, with average flight tickets costing more than $1,300. It’s followed by French Polynesia, Antarctica, and the Maldives.

The same research indicated that more than four out of 10 Americans say they’re increasing their travel budgets this year.

And when it comes to ultra-expensive premium trips, 42 percent of those surveyed said they were planning a luxury island destination. Twenty-four percent said an African safari, and 12 percent were planning a polar expedition.

And how are they affording this? They are cutting back on new cars, new clothes and jewelry, and expensive dining experiences.
