Involuntary Denied Boarding: Which Airline Bumps the Most?
This summer, most flights might be full, not because more people are flying, but because the airlines have reduced capacity and flight frequency.
This means a higher chance of getting bumped from your flight. In the industry, it’s called involuntary denied boarding.
And which airline bumps the most passengers? American Airlines. In fact, it’s responsible for about 60% of all denied boardings in the airline industry. Last year, American bumped more than 14,000 passengers.
By comparison? United bumped only 309 passengers. Southwest? Just 226. And Delta? Zero.
So book accordingly.
