The one question when it comes to airfares to which the answer seems to change by the season. When’s the best time, if you’re looking for a deal — and best day of the week — to fly?

Not long ago, the best time to book that ticket was one minute after midnight, on Tuesdays, in the time zone where your airline was based, as unsold discount fares came rushing back into their system.

But today, it’s more important what day of the week you want to fly that makes the difference.

The cheapest day of the week to fly this summer? Tuesday when the average price is nearly 18 per cent cheaper, followed by Wednesday and Saturday.

The most expensive days to fly? Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays.
