World Cup Ticket and Hotel Prices Begin to Drop

Six months ago, if you wanted to score tickets for a World Cup game in the U.S., you were facing a very expensive proposition. This is the same for hotel rooms.

You would have been told there was a steep premium — probably from a ticket broker, and many hotels in host cities not only upped the room rates, but insisted on a three or four night minimum.

But with double digit drops in foreign travel to the U.S. this year, demand for the games and those rooms is eroding.

And we now know the difference between a booked room and a blocked room, and same for tickets.

Already, FIFA has released thousands of hotel rooms it had blocked but will no longer need.

And we’re on the verge of many suddenly available game tickets at more affordable prices. Stay tuned.
