The Essentials

Airports with the Shortest and Longest Walks

We all want to get our steps in, but not necessarily when we’re trying to catch a flight. And many airports require a lot of steps — in some cases more than a mile of walking — to get to your gates.

So which airports offer the least amount of walking?

The airport in Trenton, New Jersey offers the shortest walking distance from the curb to the gate, about three tenths of a mile.

Paine Field in the state of Washington is also a four tenths of a mile walk.

Islip’s MacArthur Airport in Long Island is a very easy walk. New Haven, Maui, and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania also offer short strolls.

That’s not the case at Dallas-Forth Worth in Texas — you could walk as much as a mile and a half to get to your gates. So plan accordingly.
