The Essentials
Airline Lounge Overcrowding
Are you a member of an airline lounge? Or do you have membership through an elite credit card, like Chase, Capital One, or American Express?
The problem is that many of these cards and clubs have oversold memberships, and as a result, membership perks are rapidly eroding. Traveling on a Capital One Venture card? As of this month, you can no longer bring a guest. They’ll have to pay $45 per visit.
At American Express, you can still bring a guest, but they have to be flying on the same flight as you. And then, of course, there are the long wait times at many airport lounges for everyone else.
Remember the Groucho Marx line that he would never join a club that would have him as a member? When it comes to a number of airline and credit card lounges, he might have a point.
