Safety as they say is relative.

But with more wars being fought, border security tightening and trade tensions rising, the Institute for Economics and Peace has just issued its Global Peace Index, ranking the most peaceful countries in the world.

The research looked at 23 indicators, ranging from current conflicts to how much a country spends on its military, and national murder rates. Topping the peaceful list: Iceland, which has been number one since 2008, followed by Ireland, New Zealand, Austria, and Switzerland.

And Asia’s safest country is Singapore.
