I’m a big fan of plan B when it comes to choosing airports. And no more so than today.

Going to or from San Francisco, my airport of choice is Oakland. There are fewer delays and fewer weather issues.

Flying in and out of Boston? I choose Providence, Rhode Island.

My secret alternate airport in Chicago is often… Milwaukee.

And in New York, whenever I’m on a domestic flight, I also look to see which flights I can catch out of MacArthur Airport in Long Island.

Uncrowded, uncongested, no car traffic, and less expensive parking.

And my walk from the car parking lot to the aircraft gate is about five minutes.
