“This cat photo was the first I took in Ankara, Turkey on my first day there, in early October. It was around the corner of the hotel, on the other side of a barrier; I like how the slats parceled out the cat body. Cats are the uncrowned kings and queens of the country. There are a plethora of them. They are in shops and outside shops, on the streets and at the shore, at Roman and Greek ruins, in mosques and museums, and at rest stops, which sell cat food packages. To abbreviate the name of a James Bond character, there are Cats Galore. Since I am a cat lover, their ubiquity is a good thing.”
