Why Travelers Are Flying Overseas To Shop Luxury Goods
The latest tariff issue has resulted in a growing number of American travelers heading overseas on a single mission, to shop for luxury goods. And they seem to be saving a lot of money, in the thousands, at high end boutiques like Dior, Gucci, Hermes, and Louis Vuitton.
Add the automatic refund of Europe’s value added tax and you save even more. Some folks are even flying as far as Doha Airport in Qatar. Why? The duty free luxury stores at the airport are actually owned by Qatar and licensed to the brands, and prices are controlled by the government.
As a result, these are the lowest duty free prices of any country in the world, and the savings can often more than pay for the flight there.
