The Essentials

Don’t Post Travel Photos Until You’re Home

In a world where everyone wants to photograph their travel experience, a few cautions.

The next time you book a flight and get your printed boarding pass, don’t photograph it and post it. You’d be surprised how many folks do that.

Scammers can often get crucial information about you from the data printed on those passes, even if they just contain a confirmation number. And another important caution: go ahead and take as many photos as you want of your trip, and where you went, what you ate, and your experiences, but wait to post any of those photos until you are back at home.

Why? If you post them during the trip, you’re advertising to the world not just where you are, but also where you’re not, which is an invitation for home or apartment burglary.
