The Essentials

Skip Long TSA Lines at These Airport Hotels

There’s a little known and surprising way to avoid long security lines at a few airports.

It’s called the airport hotel, and three of them actually have their own TSA checkpoints.

And if you’re traveling with carry-on bags only, it’s the way to go.

The InterContinental Hotel connected to the Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport has an on-site TSA security checkpoint. It’s open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m., and you don’t need to be a guest to use it.

In Michigan, the Westin at Detroit Metropolitan Airport offers a TSA entrance straight into the McNamara Terminal, and again, you don’t have to be staying there to use it.

And in Dallas, the Grand Hyatt at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is located inside their Terminal D, and you can take the elevator straight from your room to security.
