The Essentials

Airport Parking Prices Are Soaring

With some exceptions the cost of parking your car near terminals at major U.S. airports has always been expensive, if not excessive.

Travelers have always paid dearly for that convenience. But now, parking rates at many airports are increasing, with new rates now averaging at least 15% higher than last year.

It still, and as costly as that might seem, may still be less expensive than some rideshare services to take you to the airport.

For example, at Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson Airport, parking rates can now be as high as $100 a day.

At New York’s JFK, daily parking is $70. If that seems high, consider this: an UberX from Manhattan to JFK is $115 and that’s each way.

So…do the math and for short trips you just might drive yourself.
