In the wake of COVID, the Centers for Disease Control ordered a full stop on cruise ship operations and ordered the cruise lines to fix design and operations to comply with about 75 new health and safety protocols.
It was only then that the CDC allowed the lines to resume cruising.
But the Trump administration has just cut the CDC’s Vessel Sanitation Program. Translation: no one is currently inspecting cruise ships.
And cases of the gastrointestinal norovirus have begun to surge — already a dozen outbreaks have recently occurred.
Should that stop you from cruising — no.
Just be sure — almost obsessive in washing your hands thoroughly before and after you eat or go to the bathroom.
