Photo of the Week — January 8, 2025

Congratulations to this week’s winner, Teri Bialosky! Teri writes:

This is an area in the Antarctic Sound called Kayak Bayone of first excursions after crossing the Drake Passage. We were cruising the area in our zodiacs (large motorized/rubberized rafts) so we had a close-up of the floating ice (foreground) that looked almost black. The scenery as we made our way south and then back north via the Shetland Islands was extraordinary. The water was like glass given the absence of any others there. Seeing the area at the beginning of the season has the advantage of feeling like you are the only ones there. Indeed, there were just 200 people on our ship (Silversea Endeavor).
