How early should you arrive at the airport to catch your flight? More importantly, what’s the cutoff time for checking in for your domestic flight and luggage? A few years ago, many airlines had a 40-minute cutoff, which then increased to 45 minutes.
Now, one airline has upped it to 50 minutes before flight time.
United Airlines requires check-in 60 minutes prior to departure, regardless of whether you have checked bags.
My rule, especially if you’re checking bags, is 90 minutes. Even if you follow this rule, show the gate agent your bar-coded bag tags and confirm that your bag has been scanned and loaded onto your flight.
