So how do you know if your flight is on time or is it historically always late?
Airline websites actually publish this information and so does the US Department of Transportation (DOT), but online travel agency sites don’t.
The DOT measures on-time performance based on whether your plane arrives within 15 minutes of its published schedule.
Of course, what this means is that if a plane is listed as on time, it could be already 14 minutes late.
If you’re sitting in the back of the plane, tack on at least another 10 minutes, which means while your plane may be officially on time, you just lost 25 minutes to connect to your next flight. So schedule accordingly.
