Can flying in the back of the plane get any better? There’s no legroom, smaller seats and let’s not even discuss the food on board.
But two airlines are now saying they are going to make things better for those in coach. Southwest and United have embarked on a total economy class overhaul — larger overhead bins, more in-seat power outlets, faster WiFi and in-flight entertainment screens.
Now their planes will get improved connection speed and bandwidth in every seat.
Southwest will be installing both USB and AC power ports in 2023. And United will install entertainment screens in every seat, then improved connection speed and bandwidth.
Don’t expect the changes overnight. In order to implement the changes, planes will have to be taken out of service for all the hardware and software installations but you can expect to see the new and improved coach sections sometime in 2023.
As for the legroom and seat width, perhaps you’ll be so occupied by in-flight entertainment that you won’t notice it as much
