Best Countries for Digital Nomads: A New Survey

One term that quickly became part of our lexicon during COVID-19 is “digital nomad.”

That’s someone, maybe even you, who uses technology to do their job from virtually anywhere…pun intended.

Many destinations have tried to pivot to become more attractive to the digital nomads, offering them extended visas or special work permits so they can work remotely — and affordably.

And now, there’s even a survey of the best countries for digital nomads. The research rated countries based on Internet access and speed, apartment rental costs, language difficulty, cost and access to a work visa, and length of that remote working visa.

Norway came in first place with an overall score of 7.88 out of ten with a 9.10 in digital nomad acceptance.

Mexico came in second with 7.30 followed by Germany, Portugal, and Iceland.

The worst country for digital nomads is the UAE due to its language difficulties followed by the Republic of Georgia, Antigua, and Croatia — due in large part to the limited length of their remote work visas.
