With more and more of us working from anywhere, having high speed internet access is more or less essential.
And since a growing number of us are also using special day passes from the big hotel chains to use their guest rooms as daytime offices, the presumption of fast and reliable internet connections has been getting some travelers in trouble.
Not all hotels are equal. Some offer two tiers of WiFi — regular and slow. And then, there’s a faster premium WiFi.
One survey just broke down — by hotel chain — who has fast service and who might be lacking.
And the real key is how fast hotel internet allows you to download files and access websites. Who had the fastest internet speeds by brand?
That’s Ritz Carlton, followed by Marriott and Holiday Inn.
At the bottom of the list, there’s Sheraton, Westin, Intercontinental and Best Western. So always be sure to call ahead and ask the hotel to tell you their exact WiFi speed for both free and premium services.
