The Travel Detective: Season 6, Episode 6

This week on The Travel Detective (PBS, check your local listings): when it comes to travel, some might argue that the worst four letter word that starts with the letter “f” is….fear. And that might explain why some people were reconsidering their trips to the Dominican Republic last year — a lot of bad headlines concerning unexplained visitor deaths. But it didn’t stop me from going, and I’m going to share with you what I found in the Dominican Republic. Plus, the next time you’re heading for your favorite sushi restaurant at home or trying a new one when you travel, our correspondent Troy Johnson debunks some myths on the definition of fresh fish — not to mention what’s really being put on the menu. And, chances are you’ve flown to, through or from LAX, but what about nearby Ontario International Airport? Not long ago, it was an almost forgotten airport. The Wall Street Journal’s Scott McCartney reveals the struggles and the rebirth of Ontario.
