Roger Dow, President & CEO of U.S. Travel Association, joins the program to talk about the changing patterns in travel trends, what the travel industry hasn’t figured out yet and the $4.7 billion that will be generated from the convention’s meetings. Roger then recalls the effect of September 11, 2001 on the travel industry. He also speaks about the crumbling airport and road infrastructure in the U.S., where the U.S. is lacking in transportation and how the U.S. Travel Association is on the front line of the fight.

 

Cory Jobe, Director for the Illinois Office of Tourism, speaks about the growth on Illinois’ horizon for the rest of 2018, longer range flights to Chicago and working with the partners within the Great Lakes to drive tourism to the area that otherwise would have just had a layover there. Cory then shares little known facts about the historic Route 66, the iconic small towns along the route and why the famed highway is attracting travelers looking for a different experience.

 

Matt Kepnes, New York Times bestselling author of How to Travel the World on $50 a Day: Travel Cheaper, Longer, Smarter and founder of travel website NomadicMatt.com, discusses the most and least walkable cities around the world, his best tips and tricks for traveling on a budget as well as the business of points and how he uses them.

 

Ed Sealover, Reporter for the Denver Business Journal, shares what the booming business and economy of Denver is like, the public transportation and what foreigners know about the city. Ed then speaks about the approximately 120 breweries in the metropolitan Denver area, the culinary scene and where people from across the country are flocking to when they come to town. Colorado has the largest number of craft distilleries in the country.

 

Bill Talbert, President & CEO of the  Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, joins the program to speak about Miami’s international market, why the weakening amount of foreign visitors to the U.S. isn’t affecting the city. He also reveals what country makes up its number one market.
