Travel Tip: No More Shampoo and Conditioner Bottles in Select Hotels

As a frequent traveler, every time I go to a hotel, I’ve come to expect and actually look forward to a regular fixture inside my bathroom–those small little designer bottles of shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. And yes, I admit to also taking some with me when I check out.

I have a lovely collection of them in my own bathroom (that’s my quirky guilty pleasure). And I know I’m not alone.

Well, now, a growing number of hotels are about to kill one of our favorite perks. Marriott, Holiday Inn and Kimpton are just some of the hotel chains getting rid of those tiny bottles.

And in their place, the chains are installing larger containers that are bolted into shower walls. There are both environmental and cost reasons attached to this move, and strong arguments for both.

But either way, the move may send a visual message that you are no longer in a luxury hotel but in a college dormitory. I, for one, am going to miss those little bottles. And I bet you are as well. I may even go back to bringing my own bottles from now on.
