Ask A Concierge: Forests of Christmas Lights in Los Angeles

Locations in this article:  Los Angeles, CA

If you’re spending time in Los Angeles this holiday season, Sarah Dandashy of Ask A Concierge is highlighting a few attractions you won’t want to miss. In addition to ice skating, you can also visit “Enchanted: Forest of Light” at the Descanso Gardens.

Descanso Gardens is celebrating the second year of its incredible light show this holiday season. Appropriately titled “Enchanted: Forest of Light,” it truly is a magical and impressive event.

“Enchanted” features ten dazzling light installations, from a field of sparkling tulips called “Flower Power” to a color-changing oak den named “Symphony of Oaks” to my favorite exhibit, a field of lily-like pads titled “Luminous Lawn.” The one-mile loop around the gardens takes you through an impressive light journey. A few of the installations are even interactive, which adds to the grandeur of it all.

This year, there were a few additions to the spectacular light show. “Celestial Shadows,” one of Enchanted’s new and captivating additions, is a series of laser-cut pendants. These pendants cast a beautiful latticework of light and shadows onto the ground that swirl in kaleidoscopic patterns.

The other big change this year was with the Luminous Lawn, where the lily pad-like “Pool” has evolved into “Aqueous.” This Candyland-like path changes colors as you stroll (or jump) along its winding walkway.

It runs through January 7, 2018. Timed tickets are required to maintain an even flow and pleasant experience, so plan in advance. Tickets range up to $28. Be sure to check the site for special events, like Dinner with Santa, to round off your experience.

I have to say this is hands down my favorite holiday light experience this year. Just take a peek at my video for a glimpse at my experience. Then, go buy your tickets!
