Peter Greenberg Worldwide—Best of Florida—November 4, 2017

Locations in this article:  Berlin, Germany Miami, FL Orlando, FL Tampa, FL

This September, the Category 5 storm Hurricane Irma devastated Florida and left over 75,000 people seeking refuge, clothing, and food. While the storm—and the corresponding news coverage—has blown over, the affected areas are still in recovery mode. In addition to donating time or resources through local organizations like Feeding Florida, OneBlood, or Best Friends (an organization helping animals affected by the storm), one of the best ways you can help areas recover is by doing what some of us do best—travel there.

This week, Peter Greenberg Worldwide takes a tour through Florida. The first stop on this trip through the Sunshine State is Tampa Bay. Tampa is known for a mix of historic architecture and modern landmarks, bustling business districts, and scenic waterways. Bob Buckhorn, the Mayor of Tampa, joins Peter Greenberg in this hour to share his joy about the exploding growth happening in the urban core of the city, such as the new Riverwalk in Downtown Tampa. Next up is Miami, home to a bustling art scene, vibrant nightlife, and shopping. In addition to trendy clubs, tranquil beaches, and thriving Cuban communities, The Port of Miami also serves five million travelers annually, cementing the city’s reputation as the “Cruise Capital of the World.” Cruising back north, our tour of the state finishes in Orlando. While often referred to as “The Theme Park Capital of the World,” Peter’s guest this hour shows some hidden sides to the city, from its flourishing culinary scene to its undeniable philanthropy. There’s all of this and more as the Peter Greenberg Worldwide Radio Show tours the Sunshine State.
