Travel Tip: New Rules for Airline Priority Boarding

For many airlines, boarding a flight has become tantamount to a performance art play.
In the old days, airlines boarded families and those with a physical disability first, then first class, and then coach.
Not anymore. There are so many different boarding groups that confusion is king at the gates.
You now qualify for priority boarding based on whether you are in the military, carry a certain credit card, your mileage status, or how much you paid for your ticket, as opposed to where you are sitting on the plane.
There is a different boarding status for everything short of a designated personality disorder.
Now, if you happen to be flying on Alaska Airlines, you get priority boarding based on what you might be wearing.
Through the end of the NFL regular season, that applies to anyone in economy wearing a Seattle Seahawks jersey with the number three on the back—quarterback Russell Wilson’s number.
What’s next? Priority boarding for Cher impersonators?
The boarding process won’t be any faster, but at least it will be more entertaining.
