Where are you thinking of traveling this summer?

In the wake of terrorist incidents overseas, a review of our travel plans by Allianz Global Assistance found that we may be staying closer to home this summer.

If we’re traveling overseas, most of us are heading for the Caribbean.

The company surveyed nearly three million trips planned by its customers between now and September.

It discovered the most popular domestic and international destinations for American travelers this summer.

Domestic Destinations

1. Orlando
2. Las Vegas
3. Honolulu
4. Los Angeles
5. Seattle
6. San Francisco
7. Maui
8. Boston
9. Denver
10. Fort Lauderdale

International Destinations

1. Cancun, Mexico
2. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
3. Los Cabos, Mexico
4. Montego Bay, Jamaica
5. San Juan, Puerto Rico
6. Aruba Island
7. London, United Kingdom
8. St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands
9. Nassau, Bahamas
10. Paris, France

While London and Paris are the only international destinations in Europe, they should be expecting much lower numbers.

The research also revealed that we are most likely to travel in groups this summer.

Translation: multigenerational families traveling together.

But for an overwhelming number of Americans, most trips will be in the U.S.
