Travel Tip: Factors That Can Make Flying Better—Or Worse

planeThe results are in, and you’d better fasten your seat belt, that is…if it can actually fit around your waist.

North Americans are the world’s heaviest flyers, with nearly one quarter weighing in at more than 200 pounds.

This particular survey showed that heavier passengers tend to be less satisfied with the flying experience in general. That’s not a surprise.

Asia hosts 71 percent of the world’s passengers under 150 pounds, with a significantly higher rate of passenger satisfaction.

Of course, it’s easy to postulate that one of the key reasons for this is the size of airline seats themselves.

One other result of the survey is not related to weight, but class of service.

Three quarters of first class passengers spent time talking to other passengers during the flight.

That’s compared to just half of economy passengers, who presumably were talking about how uncomfortable they were.
