Peter Greenberg’s Hot Destinations for 2016

National Parks
This year marks the 100th anniversary of America’s National Parks. But 2016 is NOT the year to stand in even longer lines at Yosemite and Yellowstone.
Instead, the smart travelers will aim for parks like Denali National Park in Alaska, with its wild grizzlies, wolves, moose, sheep, brown bears, and caribou.
This is one of America’s most impressive parks. You can go climbing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, or dog sledding. After all, we’re talking about 4,740,000 acres—that’s more than 7.4 million square miles.
You can also check out Canyonlands National Park, which is sprawled over just 500 square miles of Utah desert.
It is a great combination of sandstone spires and canyons, and it’s where the Green and Colorado rivers merge, creating some of America’s biggest rapids.
