There are few things as frustrating in the travel experience as waiting in long lines to check in for a flight.
What’s worse is to arrive after a very long flight and wait even longer to clear immigration and customs.
But new technology at airports may finally be helping to speed up that process.
At London’s Heathrow and Amsterdam’s Schiphol airports, they’re working to install self-service biometric passport gates that use facial recognition technology.
Japan’s All Nippon Airways is now providing passengers with smart tablets, enabling them to check in quickly and navigate the airport.
Plus, one company is developing something called embedded biotech for frequent travelers—a microchip is surgically inserted under your skin, taking the place of a physical passport.
At least this way, you’ll never lose it.
