We’re quickly approaching one of the best times of the year to visit ski resorts…when the snow is gone and the mountains are officially open for business. Here are some new summer activities you’ll find at mountain resorts this year.

Whistler Mountain typically stays open for spring skiing until mid-May. But by summer, it’s all about hiking, mountain biking, and riding the gondolas.

In July, Ziptrek Ecotours is building one of the longest ziplines in the world—over 1.2 miles—spanning the distance between Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains.

Heavenly Mountain Resort in Lake Tahoe opened a 3,300-foot zipline last summer and three new ropes courses. This summer, it’s adding another zipline as well as rock climbing.

If all goes according to plan, Killington Resort in Vermont will have its own roller coaster this summer.

It’s investing over $3.5 million to build a 4,800-foot Mountain Coaster, a four-story ropes course, and both ATV and Segway tours.

What’s the bottom line? These resorts are now aiming to be year-round destinations, which means the attractions and activities will just keep growing.
